What exactly is stamped concrete, and why should you consider it the next time you have your patio or driveway redesigned?
Stamped concrete is a decorative finish that is accomplished using a tool called a concrete stamp mat. This handy tool features a wide array of patterns that give the concrete a unique look.
Some patterns resemble ordinary tiles, while others are crafted so that the concrete can resemble cobblestones or natural rock.
This type of decorative finish is great for any surface made of concrete. But what makes it even better is that it can be utilised to decorate patios and paths, too!
Note: Stamped concrete is not recommended for any surface built on steep slopes and slippery areas, such as pool surrounds. But don’t worry because we have other decorative options that you’ll also love.
The Concrete Stamping Process
You’re probably thinking about how those patterns are stamped, and we are more than happy to guide you through the process.
First, we’re going to pour concrete after levelling the ground. Depending on the application, we may also reinforce the area to make sure it can withstand a lot of weight.
Next, the concrete is levelled using a screed. We will make sure to give the concrete a smooth finish once it is completely levelled.
Our crew will then apply your chosen stamp pattern while the concrete is still workable.
If you wish, we can also apply colour to your stamped concrete. Finally, the concrete is sealed to shield it from moisture.
